At today’s Solemn Mass to celebrate Pentecost Father Mervyn presided and Father Martin preached and concelebrated. In his sermon Father Martin addressed the problem of Christian disunity and commented on the position of Bishops as the successors of the Apostles who, on the Day of Pentecost, received the Holy Spirit in tongues of flame on their heads, symbolised today by the Mitres Bishops wear. Today we opened up the doors into the Lady Chapel to provide a better children’s area for the many young children nwho regularly attend and are too young to go to Sunday School.
